River Fun
Vice President
In 2021, River became a full-time participant at the company and was appointed Vice President in 2023. Having started from the ground up, River grew into a valuable team leader and knowledgeable craftsman within arboriculture.
Now as an experienced climber and equipment operator, he has close to what some would call a lifetime of experience. As part of the next generation, River shares his knowledge and experiences with his wife and children, passing on the same joy and passion he has always experienced in the art of caring for trees.
From the time River was a young man, he has found himself in the trees.
Being raised by an arborist can be a very rewarding experience when you’re the oldest of three sons. River was learning knots and ascending ropes well above your standard treehouse for fun at a very young age, along with his brothers in the family’s beautiful grande pecan, magnolia, and oak trees. It was only natural that throughout high school and beyond The Charleston Arborist tree crew knew River was ready - and possessed the skills - to assist them with whatever was needed.
In addition to his passion for trees, River also carries a true love of the Lowcountry waterways. Armed with a gift of leadership, when River was 19 years old, he expanded his horizons and earned his captain’s license. He worked on many vessels within the Charleston area. When River wasn’t at the helm of a watercraft, River continued to climb and work with the family tree business in his spare time.
